Back Bay Fish Weirs are built.

(ca. 3,000 BCE) Constructed by Native Americans over much of the Back Bay, they consist of a series of stakes driven into the mud to trap fish as the tide recedes. The oldest man-made structures in Boston, they are uncovered during construction projects in 1911* and 1939.
